Brother Chris Englert, Interim President | Christian Brothers University
Christian Brothers University has launched its annual September of Service (SOS) initiative for 2025, encouraging students, faculty, staff, and alumni to participate in a month-long series of volunteer activities across Memphis and the Mid-South. The program is rooted in the university’s Lasallian tradition of service.
September of Service started as a student-led project aimed at collaborating with a different nonprofit each day during September. Over time, it has expanded to generate thousands of volunteer hours within the community.
The 2025 schedule features partnerships with organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Mid-South Food Bank, the Humane Society, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. There are also on-campus projects and educational sessions about service to ensure all members of the CBU community can take part.
Sign-ups remain open for those interested in volunteering this month. Multiple opportunities are available throughout September. Details about volunteer options and event schedules can be found at the following link: September of Service – Volunteer Sign Up & Schedule of Events.
