Rev. James D. Conley, D.D., S.T.L. | Diocese of Lincoln website
The Knights of the Holy Eucharist, together with Father Matthew Eickhoff, will hold a Eucharistic adoration retreat at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly from October 3 to 5. The event starts on Friday evening with a rosary and Mass at 8 p.m. and ends on Sunday with lunch at noon.
This retreat aims to provide spiritual renewal focused on the healing love of Jesus in the Eucharist. Attendees will participate in Eucharistic spiritual exercises, scriptural meditations before the Blessed Sacrament, daily Mass, confession opportunities, and spiritual direction.
Brother David Mary, community servant of the Knights of the Holy Eucharist, said, “The goal of the retreat is the renewal of our spiritual life through a profound experience of the healing love of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus.”
The Knights were founded by Mother Mary Angelica in 1998 as Franciscan religious brothers committed to promoting devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. Since arriving in the Diocese of Lincoln in 2016, they have supported perpetual adoration efforts and encouraged parishioners to encounter Christ through this practice.
Bishop James Conley has emphasized his support for Eucharistic adoration. He stated, “Eucharistic adoration provides individuals an opportunity to spend time with Jesus—not only to express our love and gratitude to Him for His countless blessings, but also to allow Jesus to love us back, and to heal our spiritual infirmities. Those who spend time in Eucharistic adoration receive countless graces and blessings.”
The retreat is part of ongoing efforts within the Church aimed at fostering a broader Eucharistic Revival. At St. Cecilia Parish in Hastings, parishioners have credited their 24/7 adoration program for an increase in vocations.
Brother David added, “There is a real and tangible hunger for a deeper relationship with our Lord. This is made possible by the holiness of our bishops, priests, and religious who have instilled a yearning in our diocese to seek Christ wholeheartedly.”
