Franciscan University of Steubenville is set to host its fifth annual Criminal Justice Career Fair on Friday, September 19. The event will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Pope St. Paul VI Conference Center in Christ the Teacher Hall.
According to Dr. Charles Nemeth, director of Franciscan University’s Criminal Justice Program, “This is a criminal justice career fair not just for the University, but for the people of the entire region to take advantage of.”
This year’s career fair will be the largest in the department’s history, featuring 43 agencies that will offer information about careers and opportunities within the criminal justice system. Attendees will have access to representatives from a range of organizations including federal agencies such as the United States Marine Corps, Border Patrol, Coast Guard, Supreme Court Police, Airforce ROTC, and Drug Enforcement Agency.
State and local law enforcement agencies like the Ohio Division of Wildlife and Ohio State Highway Patrol will also participate. Several university police departments and law schools—including Duquesne University Police; justice departments from Michigan, Arizona, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio; Regent University; University of Akron; Ave Maria University; Cleveland State University; and Catholic University—will be represented.
The event is open to members of the general public, high school students, prospective students considering careers in criminal justice or related fields, as well as current Franciscan students from all majors. Agency and law school representatives are expected to answer questions about various job opportunities available for individuals with different levels of experience in areas such as social work, nursing, policing, legal services, fire safety officials, federal law enforcement roles, among others.
