Several couples from Catholic parishes in Kentucky are marking significant wedding anniversaries this August.
Charles “Dave” and Mary Alice Wilson Peterson, who are members of St. John the Baptist Church in Rineyville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on August 16. Mrs. Peterson is a retired nursing office manager and Mr. Peterson is a retired pharmacist. The couple has two children, one of whom is deceased, and two grandchildren. They plan to celebrate with a reception attended by family and friends.
Lee and Margaret Worland Pieper, parishioners at St. James Church in Louisville, celebrated their 50th anniversary on July 26. They have three children and four grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Metzger, members of St. Raphael Church, observed their 50th wedding anniversary on August 9. Mrs. Metzger, formerly Cindy Hettinger, retired from St. Gabriel School and now works part-time as a teacher’s aide at Ascension School. Mr. Metzger retired from Fisher Klosterman after a career spanning 38 years. They have one daughter and one granddaughter.
Jerry and Brenda Mattingly Greenwell celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 7 as members of St. Mary Magdalen of Pazzi Church in Payneville, Kentucky. Both are retired and together they have four children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
James and Mary Ann Hamilton Higdon will mark their 50th wedding anniversary on August 22 at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral in Bardstown, Kentucky. Mr. Higdon retired from General Electric after 37 years while Mrs. Higdon worked as a medical coding consultant before retiring. They have three children and seven grandchildren.
