Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville
Nine Ursuline Sisters of Mount St. Joseph, with connections to the Archdiocese of Louisville, are marking significant milestones in their religious life this year. The sisters, celebrating jubilees ranging from 60 to 75 years, have contributed significantly to education and community service across Kentucky and beyond.
Sister Elaine Burke, a native of Louisville, marks 75 years in religious life. Her work has spanned multiple states including Kentucky, Nebraska, and New Mexico. In Louisville's Archdiocese, she held roles as a teacher and principal at various schools. Sister Burke continues her involvement by volunteering at the Owensboro RiverPark Center since 1992.
Sister Marie Carol Cecil from Howardstown is also celebrating 75 years. She spent 45 years in education across several states and remains active at the Motherhouse in Maple Mount through the Powerhouse of Prayer.
Celebrating 70 years are Sister Margaret Marie Greenwell, Sister Francis Louise Johnson, and Sister Catherine Marie Lauterwasser. Each sister has dedicated decades to teaching and other roles within Kentucky and other regions. They remain involved in their community through prayer activities at the Motherhouse.
The group marking 60 years includes Sister Barbara Jean Head, Sister Mary Henning, Sister Ann McGrew, and Sister Emma Anne Munsterman. Their careers include teaching positions throughout Kentucky as well as leadership roles within their congregation and local educational institutions like Brescia University.
