An independent short film produced by a student at St. John's University is set to premiere at the Society for Film and Visual Arts (SFVA) Film Festival on May 7. The event will take place in The Little Theatre on the university's Queens, NY campus.
The film, titled "St. Vincent Health Sciences Center," was directed and produced by Elijah Croom, a student at St. John's. It runs for 15 minutes and explores the origin and impact of the new St. Vincent Health Sciences Center building, which opened in September 2024. This $106-million facility spans 70,000 square feet and serves as an academic center for students enrolled in Nursing, Physician Assistant, and Radiologic Sciences programs.
The film highlights the innovative features of the building, including geothermal heating and cooling systems, advanced laboratories, and flexible learning spaces. Interviews with administrators, faculty members, and students underscore St. John’s commitment to fostering an inspiring educational environment.
