Carroll College has named Dr. William N. "Bill" Ruud as its new president, marking him as the college’s 19th leader. The appointment concludes a seven-month national search that involved trustees, faculty, staff, alumni, students, and community members.
The decision was announced by Fr. Patrick Beretta, Chair of the Carroll College Board of Trustees, who stated, "It is with great joy and confidence that I announce the appointment of Dr. William N. 'Bill' Ruud as the 19th president of Carroll College." Beretta highlighted Ruud's two decades of presidential experience and his alignment with the values and mission of Carroll College.
Dr. Ruud is noted for his leadership in higher education, having achieved accomplishments such as reversing enrollment declines and leading successful fundraising campaigns. His previous leadership was recognized when one of his institutions was named by The Chronicle of Higher Education as one of the "Great Colleges to Work For."
Beretta expressed gratitude to the Presidential Search Committee for their work in selecting a candidate who aligns with the college’s mission. He also thanked Dr. John Cech for his leadership over the past seven years.
Dr. Ruud and his wife, Judith, are welcomed into the Carroll community, and opportunities for engagement with the new president are anticipated in the coming months.
