Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville
The Little Sisters of the Poor have announced the 33rd annual Turtle Derby, scheduled for May 17, as reported in a recently released statement. This year, a notable change in the event will occur due to the inability to acquire the usual four-inch Red Eared Slider turtles. "The ‘races’ will be treated as always, with naming rights for sponsoring a Non-Turtle and wagering remains the same, but instead of live turtles, a giant wheel will be spun,” the congregation stated.
The event is set to take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Joseph Home, located at 15 Audubon Plaza Drive. Attendees can expect a variety of activities, including raffles, children's activities, live music, games, and a chicken dinner. Different levels of sponsorships are available for those interested.
