The Catholic Church globally is observing a period of mourning following the death of Pope Francis. Across cathedrals, basilicas, parish churches, shrines, and chapels, the Holy Eucharist is being offered in memory of the Pope. The faithful are invoking divine mercy for Pope Francis, honoring his service as Bishop of Rome.

A novena has been organized to aid believers in their prayers during this period. Organized according to the novendiales period, as prescribed by the College of Cardinals, the daily novena includes short readings from Scripture or other ecclesiastical texts alongside brief prayers. These prayers consist of orations taken from the Roman Missal and the Order of Christian Funerals.
