Several churches and organizations in the Louisville area are holding community events, support groups, and educational sessions in October.
St. Athanasius Church will present “An Afternoon with Mary through Scripture, Prayer and Song” on October 26 at 4 p.m., offering music, the rosary, and scripture readings. A reception with light refreshments will follow.
A Special Disciples of Jesus Mass is scheduled for October 26 at 3 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, intended for children from special-needs families and their friends. St. Patrick Church is organizing a “Sacred Heart Holy Hour” on October 16 at 6:30 p.m., which will include adoration and prayers. St. Teresa of Calcutta Church will celebrate its 17th anniversary Mass on October 19 at 9:30 a.m., inviting former parishioners from the merged St. Mary and St. Jerome churches to attend.
The St. Serra Club of Louisville is holding its next luncheon meeting on October 20 at Golden Corral, featuring Deacon Randy Perkins as speaker. Members and guests are welcome, with differing fees for attendance.

St. Albert the Great Church offers a monthly NAMI family support group for caregivers of individuals with mental illness. The church is also hosting a 10-week grief support group starting October 20 and a Hope and Healing Grief Group for those affected by loss due to substance use on the third Wednesday of each month. Holy Trinity Church offers a GRASP support group on the second Monday each month for those who have lost someone to addiction.
Parents of Addicted Loved Ones meets weekly on Sundays at St. John Paul II Church.
The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Indiana, are hosting a free concert by musician Richard Jeric on October 18 at Monastery Immaculate Conception. The Loretto Community will present Les Six in concert on October 17 at their church in Nerinx.
Blood drives are scheduled at St. Bernadette Church on October 25 and Holy Trinity Church on October 13, with online sign-up options through the Red Cross website.
The Golden Arrow Center for Mothers and Children is holding a purse and jewelry fundraiser on October 25-26. Our Lady of Lourdes Church will offer a paper shredding event on October 18, encouraging donations to benefit Hand in Hand Ministries.
