As the Easter Sunday approaches, Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., shared a message with the community reflecting on the resurrection's significance. Cardinal Tobin emphasized the transformative journey from fear to faith experienced by the disciples. "Their sorrow turned to amazement and then to joy beyond measure," he stated. "And that moment, the world changed forever."
Cardinal Tobin highlighted the enduring presence and victory of God's love amidst challenges, noting, "Easter reminds us that even in the face of uncertainty, fear, and suffering, God’s love is present and prevails." He explained that the resurrection is not confined to the past but is integral to the faith and daily life of believers.
Drawing parallels between Easter and Christmas, Cardinal Tobin said, "Like Christmas, Easter celebrates God’s boundless love. While Christmas reveals the gift of Christ’s birth, Easter proclaims the triumph of life over sin and death."
This year, approximately 1,300 individuals will partake in the sacraments of initiation—baptism, confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist—within the Archdiocese. Cardinal Tobin expressed gratitude for these individuals being welcomed through these sacraments.
As the community gathers to celebrate the sacred season, Cardinal Tobin offered a blessing: "May the astounding love of Christ fill our hearts with joy of the resurrection." He concluded with hopes for renewed faith and hope for all, wishing blessings and peace to everyone.
