Byron Earnheart balances his time between his love for music and his dedication to education and banking. Rooted in Northern Mississippi's rich musical environment, Earnheart, a fourth-generation musician, shares his passion for music with his family band, Delta Heart. "It’s part of our family’s DNA," he said, highlighting the region's influence on legendary musicians like B.B. King and Elvis Presley.

After completing his education at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and obtaining an MBA from Christian Brothers University (CBU), Earnheart pursued a career in banking. His academic journey led him to work closely with Barret School of Banking's Executive Director Chris Kelley, an experience that further solidified his commitment to the banking industry.

The Barret School of Banking, an independent institution operating on CBU's campus, provides specialized graduate-level education for banking professionals. "There are six graduate schools of banking that exist separately from academia," explained Earnheart, emphasizing the school's unique position in the field.

As an educator at CBU, Earnheart teaches multiple finance and economics courses and focuses on community banking's role in economic development. "I start laying the foundation that financial intermediation—people partnering with banks to borrow and save money—drives economic development," he said. His approach goes beyond traditional banking concepts, encouraging students to think critically about their financial and life goals. "One of the most enlightening things is seeing the light bulbs go off," he reflected.

Working at the Barret School of Banking allows Earnheart to collaborate with CBU staff and design a banking minor curriculum. "I get to teach banking to college juniors and seniors the way I want to," he said. Earnheart remains committed to supporting his students beyond the classroom, offering guidance on various financial endeavors.

By balancing his roles as a musician, educator, and banker, Byron Earnheart continues to live a fulfilling life enriched by his passions and professional pursuits.
