Rev. James D. Conley, D.D., S.T.L. | Diocese of Lincoln website
Bishop James Conley will be leading an annual Eucharistic procession and a session of the Stations of the Cross in Lincoln, Nebraska. These events are set to take place outside the Planned Parenthood facility, known for providing abortion services. Community members have an opportunity to participate in the procession on April 15 at 2 p.m., while the Stations of the Cross will occur on Good Friday, April 18, at noon.
Bishop Conley has articulated his position on the subject in previous writings. In a 2018 column, he expressed a deeply held belief that "legally protected abortion is our national shame," underscoring the moral and societal impact he perceives abortion to have. He further described the emotional and psychological aftermath experienced by individuals affected by abortion, noting, "I have sat with men and women who are overcome with the shame, guilt, and depression that abortion often triggers."
The events aim to combine peaceful prayer with a call for mercy and healing for all those who have been touched by abortion. Participant parking will be available at Cornerstone Christian Church, located at 4849 Old Cheney Rd. in Lincoln.
