Pope Francis has named Most Reverend Bruce A. Lewandowski, C.Ss.R., as the 10th bishop of the Diocese of Providence. Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez of Philadelphia expressed his joy over the appointment, highlighting Bishop Lewandowski's dedication and compassion during his ministry in Philadelphia.
Archbishop Pérez acknowledged Bishop Lewandowski's influence and contributions as a pastor in various parishes and his role as the Vicar for Cultural Ministries. "The people of Providence are receiving a true gift from the Holy Father with this appointment," Pérez stated.
The archbishop called on members of the Philadelphia region, including bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated religious, and lay faithful, to extend their congratulations and prayerful support to Bishop Lewandowski. Pérez conveyed his hopes for Lewandowski's successful ministry in Rhode Island, asking for the Holy Spirit's guidance through the intercession of Saint John Neumann.
