Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez | Archdiocese of Philedelphia
Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez has extended greetings to the Muslim community in Philadelphia in a letter regarding Eid al-Fitr. He expressed hope for peace and joy as they conclude the month-long observance of Ramadan, which involves fasting, prayer, and charitable activities.
Archbishop Pérez referenced Pope Francis from 2013, stating, “when we show respect for the religion of our neighbors or when we offer them our good wishes on the occasion of a religious celebration, we simply seek to share their joy.” He reiterated the importance of dialogue and cooperation among Christian and Muslim believers, stressing the need for these relationships to be enhanced.
Archbishop Pérez concluded his letter with well wishes for the Muslim community, hoping their lives would "give glory to the Almighty and bring serenity to all those you encounter."
