Walsh University has appointed Steve Miller as the Chief of Campus Police, a role he assumes immediately after serving as Interim Chief since December 2024. Prior to this appointment, Miller held the rank of Captain and brings over 42 years of law enforcement experience, including time with the Stark County Sheriff’s Department.
Miller recently completed New Chiefs Training through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. His background includes expertise in crisis intervention, emergency management, digital threat assessment, and crime prevention. “As Chief, my priority is fostering a safe and welcoming campus through proactive policing and strong community partnerships,” said Miller.
Dr. Rachel Hosler, Vice President for Student Affairs at Walsh University, commended Miller’s leadership qualities and dedication to campus safety. She stated, “Steve Miller has been a trusted leader within our Campus Police Department for years, and his commitment to student well-being and community engagement makes him the right person for this role. We are confident that under his leadership, our campus will continue to be a safe and supportive environment for all.”
The Walsh University Campus Police Department operates as a full-service law enforcement agency dedicated to protecting students, faculty, staff, and guests. Officers provide continuous campus coverage and are certified by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council with full arrest authority. The department employs a community policing model that emphasizes proactive engagement, education, and mentorship to support student success both inside and outside the classroom.
