The Most Reverend Robert G. Casey is set to be installed as the eleventh Bishop and tenth Metropolitan Archbishop of Cincinnati. The Mass of Installation will take place on Thursday, April 3, at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains.

The announcement follows the retirement acceptance of Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr, who served as Archbishop since December 21, 2009. During his tenure, Archbishop Schnurr ordained 70 men to the priesthood and submitted his resignation upon turning 75, as required by Canon Law.

Attendance at the installation Mass is by invitation only due to space constraints but will be available via livestream starting at 1:30 p.m., with prelude music preceding the ceremony. Approximately 1,000 guests are expected, including family and friends of Archbishop-designate Casey, religious leaders, civic officials, and parishioners from across the Archdiocese.

Media access is limited; however, a video pool organized by WLWT-TV will provide footage of the event. Media can broadcast the livestream without needing credits for rebroadcasting.

An outdoor procession featuring over 250 priests, deacons, and knights is planned if weather permits. This procession will begin at 2:00 p.m., allowing media to capture footage outdoors.

Archbishop-designate Casey shared his thoughts in a letter addressing his new role and journey with the Archdiocese community: "Wherever we may be born and wherever our life takes us...our life is connected to the lives of everyone around us." He emphasized unity through faith and encouraged looking towards Christ for guidance.

Casey expressed eagerness to discover "the presence of Christ in our midst" alongside members of the Archdiocese during this new chapter.
