The Archbishop Wood High School Girls’ Basketball Team is set to compete in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Girls’ 5A State Championship. The team from Warminster, Bucks County, will face South Fayette High School from McDonald, Allegheny County.
In anticipation of the championship game, the Archbishop Wood community plans to hold a Pep Rally. This event will celebrate not only the Girls’ Basketball Team but also all of the school’s Winter Sports Teams. During the rally, members of the basketball team will lead a procession into the South Gym, supported by cheers from the Archbishop Wood Cheer Team and students.
A video showcasing highlights from the team's season and their journey to Hershey will be shown at the rally. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., taking place in the South Gymnasium of Archbishop Wood High School located at 655 York Road, Warminster, PA.
The championship game is set for Saturday, March 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey, Dauphin County. With an overall record of 22-7 this year, the team is led by Senior Emily Knouse and Sophomore Ryan Carter. Both players have achieved over 1,000 points in their high school careers. This marks Archbishop Wood’s 13th appearance in state finals history; they have previously secured four consecutive titles and nine overall victories. On February 25, they won against Freire Charter High School from Philadelphia to claim the District XII 5A title under Coach Mike McDonald.
The championship game will be broadcast on Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) via pcntv.com/basketball/.
