Archbishop Allen Vigneron | Archdiocese of Detriot
The Archdiocese of Detroit has scheduled two significant Masses at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit. A Lenten Stational Mass will take place on Sunday, March 9 at 11 a.m., honoring the ministry of Archbishop Emeritus Vigneron. Additionally, a Mass of Installation for Archbishop-designate Edward J. Weisenburger is set for Tuesday, March 18 at 2 p.m.
These events follow Pope Francis's acceptance of Archbishop Vigneron's resignation on February 11 and his appointment of Bishop Edward J. Weisenburger as the sixth Archbishop of Detroit.
The Lenten Stational Mass is open to the public and will be streamed live on the Archdiocese's YouTube and Facebook pages. Media coverage is welcomed, with arrangements to be made through Michelle St. Pierre at (313) 805-1408 or stpierre.michelle@aod.org. Archbishop Emeritus Vigneron will have a brief media availability before this Mass from 10:15 to 10:30 a.m.
For the Mass of Installation, attendance is by invitation only due to space constraints but will also be available via livestream on social media platforms. Media are invited to cover this event as well, with prior arrangement necessary through Michelle St. Pierre. Archbishop-designate Weisenburger will offer media availability from 1:00 to 1:15 p.m.
Both events require careful adherence to guidelines regarding lighting and procession etiquette during Holy Eucharist, ensuring that camera operators do not use flashes or impede any processions.
