An event for young women interested in learning about consecrated life is scheduled for Sunday, March 30, at the Newman Center in Lincoln. The evening aims to engage female young adults, college students, and high school seniors in discussions and activities related to vocational discernment.
Participants are encouraged to RSVP through the link tiny.cc/rsvpencounter. The event will take place from 4:30 to 8 p.m. in Rosary Hall at the Newman Center and will include dinner, talks, prayer sessions, and fellowship.
This initiative is designed for women who may be uncertain about how to begin their journey of vocational discernment or who wish to gain more insight into the lives of consecrated women.
Support for the event comes from various sources including diocesan vocations director Father Alec Sasse, the Newman Center, as well as the School Sisters of Christ the King and the Marian Sisters of the Diocese of Lincoln.
Organizers are also seeking spiritual support from parishioners within the diocese. "We are also looking for people from the diocese to support us in prayer," stated organizer Anna Youell. "We have a sign-up sheet inviting parishioners to pray a holy hour, nine days leading up to the event and during the event." Those interested can register their participation at http://tiny.cc/encounter-prayer-sign-up.
