Richard Mangeri, a dedicated educator with over three decades of experience, is set to be honored at the 14th Annual Leaders in Education Award Dinner (LEAD) on April 10. The event will take place at the Stewart Manor Country Club and will celebrate several alumni from The School of Education.

Mangeri expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, "I am humbled by this experience of being recognized for the work I have contributed to the field of education, but this award is a testament to the collective efforts of the influences I have had along the way." He acknowledged the support from mentors, colleagues, friends, and family as instrumental in his journey.

Currently serving as Assistant Principal at Woodmere Middle School within the Hewlett-Woodmere Public School District, Mangeri has been an advocate for student success and leadership development. His career spans over 32 years, including roles as a coach and social studies teacher before moving into administration. Mangeri emphasized his commitment to fostering positive learning environments for both students and staff.

Reflecting on his education at The School of Education where he earned multiple degrees ('93Ed, '99GEd, '17Ed.D.), Mangeri noted that it provided him with essential skills and tools for effective leadership. He highlighted Professor Rene S. Parmar's impact on his career through her guidance during his dissertation process.

Mangeri cherishes memories from his time as a student at The School of Education, particularly valuing relationships formed with professors and peers. To future alumni, he advises building meaningful relationships in education and maintaining flexibility due to its evolving nature. He encourages continuous learning and using technology thoughtfully without losing human connection.
