Iona University's LaPenta School of Business has announced a six-year extension of its AACSB accreditation. The accreditation, granted by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, is a mark of excellence achieved by fewer than 6 percent of business schools worldwide.

"AACSB has long been considered the gold standard in business education accreditation. This achievement underscores the transformative experience Iona students receive at the LaPenta School of Business, as they graduate prepared to lead in today’s evolving business landscape," stated Iona President Seamus Carey, Ph.D. He expressed gratitude towards Provost Tricia Mulligan, Dean John DeMelis, and the faculty and staff for their dedication.

The accreditation process involves an evaluation of strategic direction, faculty qualifications, curriculum development, and student engagement. An external review team comprising global business education leaders conducts this comprehensive review. Iona initially received AACSB accreditation in 1999.

Dean John DeMelis commented on the extension: "This accreditation extension reaffirms the LaPenta School of Business as a leader in business education. It reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff and students to excellence and innovation."

The LaPenta School offers various programs aimed at equipping students with practical skills and professional networks. Recently recognized by The Princeton Review, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and others as one of the nation's best colleges for 2025, Iona University continues to gain recognition. U.S. News & World Report highlighted Iona for social mobility while Georgetown University's Center on Education and the Workforce ranked it highly for long-term return on investment.

Founded in 1940, Iona University is a private Catholic institution with campuses in New Rochelle and Bronxville. It offers diverse academic programs across multiple schools including arts & science, health sciences, entrepreneurship & innovation alongside its business school.
