Revered Carl A. Kemme, D.D. Bishop | Diocese of Witchita

Bishop Carl A. Kemme led a prayer service at noon on Thursday, January 30, at City Hall for the victims and families affected by the recent plane crash near Washington D.C. The tragic incident involved an American Airlines flight from Wichita and a military helicopter.

During the service, Bishop Kemme expressed his condolences: "The news of the tragic plane crash near Washington D.C., involving an American Airlines flight from Wichita and a military helicopter, is deeply saddening. My heart, and the hearts of the faithful of the Diocese of Wichita, go out to the families and loved ones of all those lost in this devastating accident."

He further added prayers for those who perished: "We pray for the souls of those who perished, including the brave members of our military, the passengers, and the crew." The bishop also offered words of support for those mourning and praised first responders: "We also pray for comfort and strength for those who mourn, and for the first responders and recovery teams as they continue their difficult work."

Bishop Kemme encouraged everyone to join in prayer: "I encourage all to pray for those affected by this tragedy. May the souls of the departed rest in peace."

The event was attended by several city officials along with religious leaders as they came together to honor those lost in this unfortunate event.
