Walsh University is set to host its Annual Science and Business Innovation Summit from January 29 to 31. The event aims to connect academia, business, science, and government sectors to foster innovation and economic growth in northeast Ohio.

The summit begins with the SPARQ Day on January 29, featuring the SPARQ Summit and Single Quad LCMS-2050 Seminar. Walsh University will collaborate with Shimadzu Scientific to showcase advancements through the SPARQ program.

On January 30, Community Day will focus on "Accelerating Economic Development at Mach 5 Speed." Keynote speakers Michael White, former Director at the U.S. Department of Defense, and Dr. Victor McCrary from the National Science Foundation (NSB) will discuss how scientific advancements can drive business opportunities. A roundtable discussion led by Dr. Tim Collins and Dr. Dan Passerini will precede a networking luncheon.

Following this, the Innovation Challenge Competition will occur at the Marlene & Joe Toot Global Learning Center. Entrepreneurs will compete for a $10,000 prize by presenting their ideas to industry leaders.

High School Day on January 31 will engage students in hands-on activities related to science and entrepreneurship. Nearly 250 students from northeast Ohio are expected to participate in workshops covering topics such as polymers, NASA space science, music coding, drones, genetics, physical therapy, nursing, and more.

Dr. Dan Passerini highlighted that "the reimagined program for Science and Business Entrepreneurship Day" offers high school students exposure to cutting-edge programming without cost due to a state IMAP grant.

The IGNITE Hub at Walsh University is also introduced as an initiative designed to enhance workforce development in Northeast Ohio by bridging education with industry needs.
