Agencies in the Archdiocese of Louisville are gearing up for Christmas by seeking donations and volunteers to support families in need.

Catholic Charities of Louisville is organizing a Christmas giveaway and requires new, unwrapped toys such as stuffed animals, Legos, Pokémon figures, superhero action figures, multicultural Barbie dolls with accessories, STEM kits, puzzles, infant and toddler toys, and board games for children aged 4-16. Additionally, the agency needs children's clothing, winter coats, and gift cards for department stores like Walmart, Target, and Meijer. Donations will be accepted until December 9. Items can be purchased from an Amazon wishlist available at https://tinyurl.com/597un6yw or donors can contact Peyton Rhea at prhea@archlou.org to arrange drop-off appointments.

The donated items will benefit clients served by Catholic Charities’ Sister Visitor Center, Community Support Services, Hispanic Services, and Office of Migration and Refugee Services.

Similarly, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is preparing for its 28th annual Santa Shop aimed at supporting needy families involved in its programs. The organization is asking for donations of new and unwrapped toys, board games, books, and clothing suitable for boys and girls from infants to age 17. Clothing items needed include pants, sweaters, hoodies, socks, scarves, gloves, and coats. Donations can be delivered between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. until December 12 at SVDP’s administration building located at 1015-C S. Preston St. An Amazon wishlist is also available at https://tinyurl.com/yb6ejvz6.

Volunteers are needed to set up the event on December 13 and assist at the Santa Shop on December 15 by wrapping gifts and helping clients. For more information or to volunteer services contact Bex Willenbrink at 301-8695 or rwillenbrink@svdplou.org.
