Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville
Priests from the Archdiocese of Louisville are set to perform in the upcoming Priest Variety Show on January 10, 2025. The event aims to generate funds for the Catholic Services Appeal’s Seminarian Education Fund, which supports the education of 19 men preparing for priesthood within the archdiocese. This educational initiative represents a significant financial commitment, amounting to over $1.3 million this year.
The archdiocese's press release emphasized the importance of events like this in securing necessary funds. “Special events such as the Priest Variety Show help raise the necessary funds to fully support our seminarians so they are able to focus on their formation and education,” it stated.
Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre expressed his enthusiasm about the return of the event. “The Priest Variety Show is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a Catholic community for an evening of fun and laughter,” he said. He also highlighted its role in supporting seminarian formation and praised participating priests' talents.
The previous show in January 2023 attracted a sold-out audience of 500 attendees and an additional 300 online viewers. This year's show will commence at 6 p.m. at St. Xavier High School’s Brown-Forman Cultural Arts Center, located at 1609 Poplar Level Road. The evening will start with a reception featuring live music, cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres, alongside an exhibition of priest artwork and writings, followed by the talent show at 7 p.m.
Tickets are priced at $40 and will be available starting November 1. Priests interested in participating can sign up by contacting Melissa Herberger from the Office of Mission Advancement via email at mherberger2@archlou.org or phone number 585-3291.
