The Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies recently held its first "Bellarmine Banquet" on September 22 at the Wilderness Ridge Country Club in Lincoln. The event aimed to support the institute's mission and featured a social hour, dinner, and program. Entertainment was provided by musician Dylan McDermott, with Max Chapman serving as master of ceremonies.
During the banquet, Dr. John Kincaid, the new vice president of academics for The Emmaus Institute, delivered a special presentation. Attendees also heard from Sister Guadalupe of the Marian Sisters of the Diocese of Lincoln.
A significant announcement during the evening was about the institute's inaugural pilgrimage titled “Encounter the Word from the Heart of the Church.” This journey will be led by Dr. Kincaid and Joshua Burks from Emmaus, along with Father Cole Kennett from the Diocese of Lincoln. The pilgrimage is scheduled for June 22 to July 1, 2025, coinciding with the Jubilee Year of Hope.
Participants will start their journey in Assisi to visit significant sites related to St. Francis and St. Clare and Blessed Carlo Acutis. The trip will then continue to Rome and Vatican City, focusing on exploring biblical themes through visits to historic basilicas and cathedrals.
An informational session about this pilgrimage is set for October 29 at St. Michael Parish in Lincoln at 7 p.m., open to anyone interested in joining.
