The U.S. Supreme Court has maintained the Texas pro-life law, which aims to protect unborn children and their mothers, keeping it fully in effect. This decision comes as a setback for the Biden-Harris administration, which had sought to challenge the law.
Previously, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that there is no conflict between state and federal law regarding the requirement for emergency room doctors to care for both pregnant women and their unborn children. The court also stated that the administration overstepped its bounds by issuing guidance that would compel doctors to perform abortions against their medical judgment. The Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal from the administration on this matter.
Katie Glenn Daniel, State Policy Director at SBA Pro-Life America, expressed approval of the ruling. Ingrid Skop, M.D., FACOG, who is vice president and director of medical affairs at Charlotte Lozier Institute, also commented on the decision.
SBA Pro-Life America is a network dedicated to ending abortion through political advocacy and promoting pro-life leadership. The organization emphasizes supporting pro-life women leaders.
The Charlotte Lozier Institute serves as an educational and research entity under SBA Pro-Life America since 2011. It focuses on research and policy analysis concerning significant issues in the United States and globally.
