Men in the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln are invited to a "Catholic Men’s Leadership Summit" scheduled for February 22. The event will take place at three locations: North American Martyrs Parish in Lincoln, St. Cecilia in Hastings, and St. Patrick in McCook.
The summit aims to help men understand their mission as Catholic individuals and develop strategies to fulfill their roles personally, within their families, parishes, and communities. Bob Sullivan, one of the organizers, emphasized the importance of forming or joining a supportive team. “And maybe most importantly, you will learn how to form or join your team of brothers who will accompany you on this mission,” he stated.
Sullivan also highlighted the abundance of resources available to Catholic men today. “Catholic men have more resources available to us than at any time since Christ’s ascension into Heaven,” he said. He added that the summit would provide opportunities for attendees to connect with others and find suitable resources.
The event is open to men currently in leadership roles within their parishes or those with potential leadership skills. The day will begin with Mass at 7 a.m., followed by registration and breakfast at 7:30 a.m.
Bishop James Conley is set to address attendees at 8 a.m., followed by Father Ed Hopkins, L.C., at 8:30 a.m. Adoration and confessions are scheduled for 10:15 a.m., leading into small group meetings at 10:50 a.m. Father Hopkins will speak again at 11:15 a.m., prior to lunch.
Post-lunch activities include further small group meetings and a talk by speaker Dan Donaldson at 1:30 p.m. The day will conclude with remarks and benediction at 4:30 p.m.
Bishop Conley expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, stating, “Since being appointed as the bishop of this great diocese in 2012, I have been inspired by the faith of so many Catholic men across southern Nebraska.” He added his excitement about fostering brotherhood within the diocese.
Registration is required by February 1 for guaranteed meals, and free-will offerings are accepted. Interested individuals can register online or contact Bob Sullivan for more information.
