The Walsh University Board of Directors has announced the extension of Dr. Timothy J. Collins' contract as President through June 30, 2030. This decision marks the second extension of his presidency, which was previously extended to June 2027.

Board Chair Carol Miller '93 made the announcement during the October board meeting, highlighting the Board's confidence in Dr. Collins' leadership and vision for the University. "As an alumna of Walsh University, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of a Walsh education, and I am honored to support President Collins' continued leadership,” Miller said. “His steadfast commitment to our core values and vision for the future ensures that Walsh will remain a beacon of excellence, service, and faith."

Dr. Collins assumed office as Walsh University's seventh president on August 5, 2019. Since then, he has implemented several initiatives including the Walsh 4.0 strategic plan aimed at innovation and growth through 2035.

In line with this vision, President Collins has designated the 2024-2025 academic year as the Year of Community to enhance engagement among students, staff, alumni, and community partners.

Under Dr. Collins' leadership, notable achievements include a five-year renewal in the Newman Guide for Catholic universities and record enrollment figures with a diverse student body from 36 countries.

Walsh University has also established innovative partnerships such as with Shimadzu Scientific Instruments for a Center for Scientific Excellence and Dai Nam University to expand its business programs.

The university has expanded its academic offerings with new programs in aviation, dyslexia therapy, and exercise physiology while broadening athletic programs with new sports teams.

Mission-related initiatives like the Blouin Scholars Program received significant funding to tackle global poverty issues while international partnerships have enhanced student exchange opportunities.

Walsh is integrating artificial intelligence into its educational framework by forming a task force for ethical AI adoption and offering new courses for students and training for faculty.
