The 17th annual Salute to THE GAME luncheon, organized by the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF), successfully raised $650,000 on September 26. This amount surpassed last year's total by $50,000.

Held at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville, the luncheon celebrates the longstanding rivalry between St. Xavier High School and Trinity High School's football teams. The rivalry game is now set for 5:30 p.m. on September 28 at St. Xavier High School. Originally scheduled for September 27 at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium at the University of Louisville, it was postponed due to inclement weather caused by Hurricane Helene.

The event included an interview with student-athletes Kyle Krupp from St. Xavier High School and Will DeSensi III from Trinity High School. Both players attended St. Mary Academy in Prospect, Kentucky before moving on to their respective high schools.

Since its beginning, the Salute to THE GAME event has raised over $5.6 million to support CEF’s mission of providing tuition assistance and grants for Catholic education within the Archdiocese of Louisville.
