Polling released today by the American Principles Project (APP) indicates that Donald Trump leads Kamala Harris in three out of five critical swing states: Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina. The polling was conducted by SPRY Strategies from August 14-20 among 600 likely voters in each state through landline and online mobile interviews, with a margin of error of 4 points.
The detailed results are as follows:
- Arizona: Trump at 48.7%, Harris at 47.6%
- Georgia: Trump at 49.3%, Harris at 48.9%
- North Carolina: Trump at 47.4%, Harris at 47.2%
- Pennsylvania: Trump at 47.2%, Harris at 48.2%
- Wisconsin: Trump at 45.2%, Harris at 47.9%
In addition to the head-to-head matchup, the poll measured voter opinions on various cultural issues:
- Women’s sports: Support for banning biological males from women’s sports ranged from a margin of support between 25.9 to 34 points.
- Sex changes for minors: Support for banning sex-change procedures for those under 18 ranged from a margin of support between 20.3 to 27.5 points.
- Parental notification: Support for requiring schools to notify parents if their child identifies as transgender ranged from a margin of support between 18.9 to 28.2 points.
- Graphic content in schools: Support for prohibiting elementary and middle schools from providing books with graphic sexual depictions ranged from a margin of support between 10 to 24.2 points.
- “Transgender sanctuary” laws: Opposition to laws providing legal protections for those facilitating sex changes for minors ranged from a margin of opposition between 30.8 to 38.8 points.
- Age verification for adult sites: Support for requiring age verification on adult websites ranged from a margin of support between 56.4 to65 .4 points.
APP President Terry Schilling commented on the significance of these results, stating:
“There are two major takeaways from these polls. First, the race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris is truly a toss-up... Second, Democrats’ extremism on cultural issues continues to be one of their biggest vulnerabilities... Republicans cannot afford to ignore these issues in such a close race."
Schilling further emphasized that Donald Trump's focus on these cultural issues could be pivotal as Election Day approaches.
