My Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

In a reflection on the Book of Joshua, we are reminded of Joshua's conversation with the people about their choice to serve God or other gods. He recounts their salvation history and declares his household's commitment to serving the Lord. The people, moved by God's deeds, pledge to serve Him, stating, “for He is our God.”

Daily, we face the choice to serve God or other entities. Through Sacraments such as Baptism, Penance, Confirmation, and the Eucharist, we affirm our commitment to God. Marriage and Anointing of the Sick further strengthen us in adulthood. The Eucharist represents God's everlasting covenant for our spiritual nourishment.

Joshua teaches that this covenant remains unbroken unless we turn away from God.

Earlier this month, during the Olympic Games, many athletes competed for gold medals. We praise God for life and those who honored Him through their abilities. Notably, Kruz Schembri-McCord from St. Ann Parish in Haines City acknowledges God's gift and likens his faith to winning gold through God's covenant and the Eucharist.

As believers living within our triune God’s promise of care, we are called to care for others daily by meeting basic needs like food and shelter and supporting those unable to provide for themselves. We console those experiencing sadness or loss and offer strength where needed. After storms or disasters, checking on neighbors' safety becomes paramount.

Our community extends beyond local boundaries through parish missions or Diocesan efforts like San Juan de la Maguana’s mission work.

Recently children returned to school under the guidance of parents, guardians, teachers, catechists, faculty members, staff volunteers religious leaders clergy—all leading like Joshua—to instill faith in students who also guide adults with their faithfulness.

Joshua's message is clear: "God is with us." Are we with God?
