Lora Unger will be the guest speaker at Magnificat’s Aug. 10 prayer meal.

The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the John XXIII Center, 3700 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln. The morning includes breakfast, prayer, praise and worship, teaching, information about the international ministry of Magnificat, and Unger’s talk.

Unger will speak about the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit in the Family (MHSF), the apostolate she and her husband Chance founded with Father Benjamin Holdren, a priest of the Diocese of Lincoln. The mission of MHSF is devoted to the sanctification of ordinary life in the family.

Magnificat is a ministry to Catholic women; a private association of the faithful within the Catholic Church under the jurisdiction of the Lincoln Diocese. Women of other Christian faiths are invited to share in the prayer meals as well.

The primary purpose of Magnificat is to help Christian women become more open to the Holy Spirit through a deeper commitment of their lives to Jesus as Lord and to impart the Holy Spirit to one another by their love, service, and sharing the good news of salvation.

Magnificat started in 1981 in New Orleans and has since become an international ministry, with chapters currently located in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Malta, Poland, and Africa. Magnificat of Lincoln, the Morningstar Chapter, was approved by Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz in 1996.

With questions, please contact coordinator Rhonda Litt by text at 402-525-6396. There is handicap accessibility and parking on the east side of the chapel; those who wish to use these doors may pass through the chapel to Dawson Hall—all one level; no stairs.
