Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville

The National Eucharistic Pilgrimage’s Juan Diego Route is approaching the Archdiocese of Louisville. As the southernmost route of the nationwide pilgrimage, the Juan Diego pilgrims began their journey in Brownsville, Texas, on May 19, coinciding with the feast of Pentecost.

On July 4, after traveling for 46 days and passing through 17 dioceses, the pilgrims will arrive in the Archdiocese of Louisville. The route within the archdiocese will commence at St. Catherine Church in New Haven, Kentucky, with a Mass. The procession will then proceed to the Abbey of Gethsemani that morning.

During their six-day journey through the archdiocese, the pilgrims will visit 13 parishes and multiple religious communities. Many stops along this route will feature Masses, adoration sessions, Liturgy of the Hours services, and opportunities for fellowship with local communities.

The pilgrims are scheduled to enter the Archdiocese of Indianapolis on July 9 as they cross into Indiana via the Big Four Bridge. Their final destination is Indianapolis where they will participate in the National Eucharistic Congress from July 17-21. This event is expected to draw tens of thousands of Catholics and marks the first National Eucharistic Congress in 83 years.

Further details and a complete schedule for all stops on the Juan Diego Route can be found at: www.eucharisticpilgrimage.org/st-juan-diego-route.
