On June 13, 2024, a letter from Bishop Thomas Grady emphasized the importance of connecting with one another in the name of Christ. The bishop urged believers to recognize everything as sacred, stating that Jesus offered everything to the Father and asked followers to do the same.
"When He took the bread and wine and called the elements of this meal, His Body, His Blood and asked each one of us to take and eat as He did, He made all the earth His own," wrote Bishop Grady. "He is recognized in the breaking of the bread."
Bishop Grady stressed that participation in Mass and Communion serves as a reminder of God's perpetual presence. "We cannot leave Him at the door of the Church or in the tabernacle. He lives within us," he noted.
As parishioners leave church services, they are encouraged to bring their faith into everyday life. "This summer, wherever you go... remember God is with you," Bishop Grady advised. He suggested practical acts such as smiling at others, offering handshakes or hugs, delivering food to those in need, writing cards instead of texts to elderly family members, and participating in Mass.
Additionally, he urged people to study amendments for upcoming votes carefully. Specifically mentioning Florida Amendment 4, he advised voting against it due to its stance on unregulated abortion.
Quoting Pope Francis, Bishop Grady reiterated themes of peace and solidarity: “We tirelessly proclaim peace to those who desire war... we proclaim fidelity to those who would sever every bond.”
In closing his letter, Bishop Grady called for humility and strength inspired by Mary: "May we seek the humility of our Blessed Mother that we have her invincible strength."
