Don Kobza, a member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Raymond Wageman Council #8625, was recently honored for his remarkable perfect attendance record since the council's inception in 1984. Kobza, who has never missed a single meeting or event in the past 40 years, humbly attributed his achievement to good fortune and health, stating, “I’ve just been fortunate. I haven’t been sick on meeting nights, so I’ve always been able to make it.”
Despite facing a few close calls over the years, Kobza's dedication to attending meetings has never wavered. Reflecting on his commitment, he shared, “I just enjoy the camaraderie and being able to help people.” This commitment has not gone unnoticed, with Father Matthew Zimmer, the parish pastor, praising Kobza as “always there for a person in need.” Father Zimmer further commended the Knights of Columbus members for their active involvement in the parish, describing them as “good, holy, Catholic men, serving as examples for the parish.”
Kobza's involvement in the Knights of Columbus goes beyond perfect attendance. Having served in various leadership roles within the council, including Grand Knight and Warden, he has dedicated himself to the organization's mission of serving the community and supporting charitable causes. Additionally, Kobza's service extends to other organizations, such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the local American Legion chapter, where he has also made significant contributions.
Expressing his belief in the positive impact of the Knights of Columbus, Kobza encouraged younger individuals to join the organization, emphasizing the camaraderie and sense of purpose it offers. Father Zimmer echoed this sentiment, urging those who are not yet Knights to consider the opportunity to contribute to the Church's mission.
As Kobza continues his unwavering commitment to the Knights of Columbus and community service, his dedication serves as an inspiration to fellow members and a testament to the values of the organization.
