Deacon Dan Borné, a prominent figure with a diverse background in media, government, education, and various other sectors, was recently honored with induction into the Louisiana Political Hall of Fame. The ceremony, which took place at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center on April 7, also recognized six other notable individuals, including former Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards.
Borné, known for his extensive experience and leadership roles in different fields, shared reflections on his upbringing and values during the event. He expressed gratitude for the legacy passed down by his parents, emphasizing the importance of faith and commitment. Borné stated, “Mama and Daddy were of the greatest generation. They bequeathed to their boys two things: To be committed to our faith, and to be faithful to our commitments."
Throughout his career, Borné has made significant contributions in various areas, from serving as a news and sports anchor in the media to holding positions in government, education, business, healthcare, and insurance. His dedication and expertise have been recognized through honors such as being inducted into university Halls of Fame and Alumni Distinction.
Acknowledging the support and mentorship he received throughout his professional journey, Borné expressed appreciation for his colleagues and mentors. He stated, “For over 60 years, at every stage of my career, I have been blessed with mentors who were doing things that I had an interest in knowing more about."
In addition to his professional achievements, Borné's commitment to community and service was highlighted during the ceremony. He praised those who serve in public office, acknowledging the challenges they face in making important decisions. Borné expressed admiration for their dedication, stating, “I have never run for office, but I have nothing but profound admiration for those who have … and who have had to make tough decisions on important matters of public policy."
Deacon Dan Borné was inducted into the Louisiana Political Hall of Fame alongside distinguished individuals such as Sen. Louis Lambert, former State Rep. Joe Delpit, and radio journalist Jim Engster. The ceremony celebrated the collective contributions of these honorees to the political landscape of Louisiana.
