Catholics from across Southern Arizona recently gathered at the Mothers Ministry Fair organized by the diocesan Walking with Moms in Need program. The event aimed to provide support and resources for women who are pregnant or parenting young children in the community. Dr. Ana Sanguineti, the diocesan spokeswoman for life and organizer of the event, highlighted the importance of identifying resources for vulnerable women in need.
"Through identifying helpful resources, we can begin to truly assist women with compassionate love and support," said Sanguineti, emphasizing the goal of the program to equip every parishioner to support pregnant women in need.
The Mothers Ministry Fair served as a platform for various organizations and groups to network and showcase the services available for pregnant women and mothers of young children in the area. Sanguineti expressed satisfaction with the event, stating, "We are very happy with the success of our first efforts to connect our parishes with all the helpful resources in our diocese area."
The fair featured twenty-one organizations, including well-known names like 40 Days For Life, Adoption Choices, Casa de los Niños, and Knights of Columbus, among others. It provided pregnant women and mothers with information on a range of resources such as pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, post-abortion healing, adoption services, education programs, and assistance with basic needs like clothing, diapers, housing, and home goods.
The event also highlighted the involvement of eleven Catholic parishes offering Walking with Moms in Need ministries, with nine of them participating in the Mothers Ministry Fair. Sanguineti encouraged those interested in supporting the initiative to reach out to their local parish for more information.
In closing, Sanguineti urged the community to support pregnant women and mothers by spreading awareness about the available resources, stating, "If you know a woman who is pregnant or parenting young children, please help her understand that she is not alone. There are countless people ready to walk with her during her pregnancy and beyond."
