In a message to the faithful dated March 20, 2024, Most Reverend Shelton J. Fabre, Archbishop of Louisville, emphasized the importance of the upcoming Good Friday collection in supporting the Church in the Holy Land.
"My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, Greetings in the Lord!" the Archbishop began, highlighting the significance of the mission to aid the Church in the Holy Land, a responsibility that dates back to the time of Saint Paul.
"Supporting the Church in the Holy Land is an historic mission," Archbishop Fabre reiterated, underlining the longstanding tradition of Christians worldwide to provide assistance to the region where Jesus walked.
"As you can imagine, hope is much needed now for the Christians of the Holy Land," the Archbishop expressed, shedding light on the challenging circumstances faced by the community in the wake of recent tragic events.
Detailing the impact of the collection, Archbishop Fabre shared, "Among many programs and projects, this collection supports 65 sanctuaries and 23 parishes, 17 schools with more than 10,000 students, 53 friars preparing for the priesthood, six guest houses for pilgrims, 509 university scholarships, and 1,020 employees in Israel and Palestine."
Through the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, Archbishop Fabre called on individuals to unite with Christians globally in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land, stating, "Thank you for your generosity!"
In closing, Archbishop Fabre reaffirmed his commitment, saying, "Please know that I remain, Sincerely in the Lord, Most Reverend Shelton J. Fabre, Archbishop of Louisville."
