ST. CLOUD | On March 7, Juan Vega, Catholic Charities of Central Florida’s director of food ministries, led a team in delivering essential supplies to seniors in need at St. Anthony Garden Courts in St. Cloud. The team distributed more than 40 boxes, each filled with 30 pounds of food, including milk, cereal, fruits, lentils, pasta, and other necessities. The focus was on providing healthy options, with foods low in sodium.

Rebekah Elawden, the property manager of St. Anthony Garden Courts, expressed gratitude for the support, stating, "Seniors are in need of our constant support as they are on fixed income. They need the most help we can give with compassion and kindness. It’s a great blessing to offer them any assistance to have a better life."

Residents of the 55-plus community, like Vilma Vega, appreciated the gesture. Vega remarked, "It’s a great blessing to receive this food. We’re very happy because it helps us at this difficult time."

The initiative aimed to assist seniors facing challenges due to rising grocery prices. Elawden hopes to continue coordinating food drops in the future to further support the residents.
