Catholic Charities of Louisville has officially unveiled its new headquarters in downtown Louisville, now known as the Catholic Charities Center located at 435 E. Broadway. The former AAA Kentucky building has been transformed into a hub of activity for the organization, with most of the 115 staffers already settling into their new workspace.

"The new Catholic Charities Center represents a serious leveling-up in our ability to serve some of the most vulnerable people in our community," emphasized Lisa DeJaco Crutcher, the Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities, in a press release regarding the move.

The bustling atmosphere within the center was evident on a recent day as families checked in for appointments, children enjoyed the designated play area, and volunteers from James Madison University worked on setting up storage shelves for emergency items. DeJaco Crutcher noted that the consolidation of programs under one roof will enable the organization to carry out its mission with enhanced focus, collaboration, and enthusiasm.

The decision to merge the Catholic Charities offices, previously situated at separate locations, into a modern and accessible headquarters has been in the works since 2019. DeJaco Crutcher explained that the former locations posed challenges in staff collaboration due to their distance apart and outdated facilities. The move to the new center will bring together various programs, including refugee classes, job preparation services, and support for survivors of human trafficking, among others.

With approximately 115 out of 144 employees operating from the new headquarters, Catholic Charities aims to streamline its operations and enhance service delivery to the community. Sister Visitor Center, Common Table, and The Father Jack Jones Food Pantry will continue to operate from their respective locations, ensuring continuity in providing essential services.

The strategic location of the Catholic Charities Center near major roadways, public transportation routes, and other social service agencies will make it more accessible for clients in need. The building, purchased in 2022 for $5.1 million, has undergone renovations to accommodate the diverse range of programs and services offered by Catholic Charities.

A grand opening event for the Catholic Charities Center is scheduled for April 15, marking a new chapter in the organization's commitment to serving the community in Louisville and beyond.
