Catholic Vote President Brian Burch commends the Greek Orthodox Church dioceses that are excommunicating the Greek lawmakers who passed homosexual marriage and adoption by same-sex couples.

"Many Christian churches continue to hold fast to Biblical principles and are unwavering in the face of the pressure to ignore scripture and sanction immorality in order to gain favor in the world,” Burch said. “With this action, two dioceses of the Greek Orthodox Church are standing strong on basic Christian doctrine."

The publication OrthoChristian is reporting that "Members of Greek Parliament who voted to legalize gay marriage and the adoption of children by gay couples earlier this month have been excommunicated in at least two dioceses of the Greek Orthodox Church."

His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim said that “Because of the rights of homosexual ‘couples,’ the Divine laws of nature … are overturned and disregarded… The spirit of party politics prevailed over the command of the Spirit of God.”

Madison, Wisconsin-based Catholic Vote is an advocacy organization that wants to “inspire every Catholic in America to live out the truths of our faith in public life,” according to the group’s website. Founded in 2008, its president is Brian Burch.
