Iona University will be recognizing and celebrating essential workers during the upcoming men's basketball game on February 18th. As a gesture of gratitude for their dedication and service, the university is offering complimentary tickets to essential workers.
According to the announcement, essential workers can claim their complimentary tickets by using the promo code "ESSENTIAL" on ionatickets.com. The game will be held at the Hynes Athletics Center on Iona University's campus in New Rochelle, New York. The tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The university defines essential workers as those who ensure the safety and well-being of the public, as well as those who contribute to the continuity of critical functions in various sectors such as law enforcement, healthcare, education, news, retail, and service industries.
"We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and service of essential workers, especially during these challenging times," said a spokesperson from Iona University. "This event is our way of expressing our appreciation and giving back to those who have been working tirelessly to support our communities."
Iona University, founded in 1940, is a private, Catholic, coeducational institution of learning in the tradition of the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers. With campuses in New Rochelle and Bronxville, Iona is located just 20 miles north of Midtown Manhattan. The university offers a wide range of academic programs, including undergraduate degrees in liberal arts, science, and business administration, as well as various master's degrees and advanced certificate programs.
The university has received recognition and accreditation for its academic excellence and commitment to its values of justice, peace, and service. Iona is included in The Princeton Review's 2024 national list of "The Best 389 Colleges" and was ranked #66 overall and #8 among Catholic schools in The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse's "2024 Best Colleges in America" ranking. Additionally, Iona's LaPenta School of Business is accredited by AACSB International, a recognition awarded to only six percent of business schools worldwide.
In July 2021, Iona University announced the establishment of the NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences, further expanding its academic offerings. The university is also expanding internationally with the addition of a new campus in County Mayo, Ireland.
As Iona University prepares to honor essential workers at the men's basketball game, the community looks forward to coming together to show gratitude and support for these individuals who have played a crucial role in maintaining the well-being of society.
