Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre of the Archdiocese of Louisville has called upon the faithful to pray for the St. Stephen Martyr Church community in light of recent events. The plea comes after the arrest of a part-time religion teacher, Jordan Fautz, on charges related to child sexual abuse and child pornography distribution.

The FBI arrested Fautz on February 2, and he has since been charged with distributing obscene visual representations of child sexual abuse and distributing child pornography. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Kentucky released a statement confirming the charges. The Archdiocese of Louisville, in a separate statement, announced that Fautz will not be returning to St. Stephen Martyr, where he had worked for nine years.

Expressing deep concern and sorrow, Archbishop Fabre extended his support to the St. Stephen Martyr community in a letter addressed to parish families. He wrote, "I join with all in extending my deep concern and sorrow to the St. Stephen Martyr community as we deal with the very serious charges brought against Mr. Fautz." The Archbishop emphasized the commitment of the Archdiocese, the parish, and the school to fully cooperate with law enforcement authorities in their ongoing investigation.

In his letter, Archbishop Fabre called upon all Catholics in the Archdiocese to keep the St. Stephen Martyr community in their prayers. He stated, "We walk this difficult journey with the Lord Jesus Christ at our side, striving to bring the hope, healing, and peace of Jesus Christ to all involved." The Archbishop assured the community that support and assistance would be provided to those affected.

The FBI, in its press release, urged anyone with information about Fautz or potential victims to come forward. The release stated, "If you or your minor dependent(s) have information about Fautz, please contact the FBI... Your responses are voluntary but may be useful in the federal investigation in identifying you or your child as a potential victim." The FBI also highlighted the potential services, restitution, and rights available to victims under federal and state law.

The St. Stephen Martyr community has been shaken by these distressing events, but they can find solace in the support of the wider Catholic community. The prayers and solidarity of Catholics in the Archdiocese of Louisville are a testament to their commitment to bringing hope and healing to those affected. As investigations continue, the community remains steadfast, seeking justice and the protection of all children.

Through these challenging times, the St. Stephen Martyr community can draw strength from their faith and the support of their fellow Catholics. The power of prayer, coupled with the unwavering commitment of the Archdiocese of Louisville, will guide them on their path towards healing and peace.
