Steve Ray, a renowned Catholic author, evangelist, and apologist, took center stage at the first "Catholic Man Night" event of 2024 in Wahoo on January 10. Despite the cold temperatures and snow squall, attendees braved the weather to hear Ray speak and engage in a thought-provoking discussion about defending the Catholic faith.

Moderated by Bob Sullivan of St. Wenceslaus Parish, the evening was filled with lively conversations as Ray fielded questions from the audience. Sullivan, assuming the persona of the fictional character "Pastor Billy Bob" from Dallas, challenged Ray on various topics including the papacy, Catholic tradition, infant baptism, Marian theology, and the "rapture." Ray's responses were filled with zeal and occasional humor as he skillfully addressed each inquiry.

This gathering marked the first event of 2024 for "Catholic Man Night," a series that commenced last fall. The next talk is scheduled for February 21 at the Wahoo State Bank Shed on 6th and Elm streets in Wahoo. The esteemed speaker will be Mark Houck of Pennsylvania, a finalist for Catholic Vote's "2023 Hero of the Year." Houck will share his personal account of being targeted by federal law enforcement, his subsequent arrest, and the subsequent federal jury trial that ultimately led to his acquittal. He will also shed light on how his faith played a crucial role in sustaining him during this challenging time.

While there is no admission fee for the event, free-will donations will be accepted to support Houck's travel expenses and his ministry, The King's Men, which aids men in overcoming addiction to pornography. The event is highly recommended for fathers and sons, as well as males aged 14 and older.
