Archdiocese of Washington
The Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., is planning to celebrate its 12th annual White Mass in honor of individuals with disabilities.
“Join @ADWDDMinistry on Sunday, October 31st, for the 12th Annual #WhiteMass celebrating the gifts of persons with disabilities and the deaf community!," the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. tweeted. "The Mass will be sign language interpreted and live-streamed through YouTube."
Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C., at 11 a.m., ADW reports. The event continues a tradition since 2010. Attendants are asked to wear white as a representation of Baptism and the dignity of those who have been baptized.
The Celebrant will be Wilton Cardinal Gregory, Archbishop of Washington.
"This blindness to the dignity of all human persons from conception to natural death is a blindness we are called to heal as the active presence of Christ in the world,” Pope Francis said, making a point that the church must work to "heal the blindness of so many who fail to see not only the current dignity of those who suffer, but also their future glory."
