Anna Maria College members gathered together on Sept. 11 to remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, with its annual tribute.
Members reflected on the 2,977 people who died during the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in New York City 19 years ago, a release issued on the school's website said.
The gathering, which was held at 8:30 a.m. on the Campus quad, was led in prayer by Deacon Jack Franchi, an Air Force senior master sergeant veteran.
Director of Fire Science Program Dr. James Carritte also spoke during the tribute and led the members of Anna Maria College in the Fireman's Prayer. After the prayer, the annual "Ringing of the Bell" took place, the release said.
"The bell, struck in three increments of three rings, symbolizes that the fallen have come home for the final time," the release stated.
After the ringing of the bell, those in attendance took a moment of silence.
Emily Kropo, class of 2023, also sang the National Anthem at the ceremony.
