All women of the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln are invited to attend the biennial convention of the Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (LDCCW) on April 26-27 at the John XXIII Center in Lincoln. The convention's theme is “Celebrating with Gratitude… Serving with Joy!”

Trudy Burenheide, the outgoing president of LDCCW, expressed her hopes for the event, stating, “I hope all women of the diocese will join the LDCCW at the event to ‘Celebrate with Gratitude’ how (the members) have ‘Joyfully Served’ one another and the Body of Christ with the help of each one of you and the Holy Spirit.”

Reflecting on her own journey within the organization, Burenheide shared, “My life has been truly enriched by the ladies of our diocese. It was probably 2018 when I researched the LDCCW online and decided totend my first meeting. I was hoping to find women who were openly passionate about their faith; that hope was fulfilled.”

Burenheide also spoke about her unexpected role as president, saying, “I never envisioned or desired to be asked to be president. However, if our Lord wills it, and even if we are new to the group and not knowledgeable of parliamentary procedure, our Lord can provide.”

She encouraged attendees to embrace opportunities that may seem daunting, stating, “I hope you find in this message my encouragement for you to go out and do what you don’t feel qualified for if our Lord brings it before you. Through the Holy Spirit, we can find the way. It’s not by our own efforts. It’s about trusting.”

The convention will feature various activities including prayer sessions, adoration, worship, and presentations by professionals like Donna Cori, a musician who will lead the Divine Mercy Chaplet on Saturday morning. Mass will also be celebrated by Bishop James Conley on Saturday.

To register for the convention, interested individuals can visit the Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women website or email Teresa Koch for more information. Registrations should be completed by April 15.
