DePaul University's College of Law received a significant boost with a $1.6 million legacy gift from alumnus Marc Lieberman and his wife, Cindy. The donation aims to enhance the Business Law program at the university and foster interdisciplinary collaborations.

The gift establishes the Marc and Cindy Lieberman Fund for Excellence in Business Law, which will support faculty members at the College of Law in developing new projects, curricula, and programs that strengthen the partnership between the College of Law and the Driehaus College of Business. DePaul President Robert L. Manuel expressed gratitude for the Liebermans' contribution, noting that it will facilitate innovative initiatives and partnerships within the university.

In addition to supporting academic endeavors, the donation may also fund a practitioner-in-residence program, bringing experienced lawyers to campus to share insights on business law with students, faculty, and the broader DePaul community.

College of Law Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea highlighted the importance of integrating legal and business knowledge for students' success post-graduation, emphasizing the value of the Liebermans' gift in advancing collaborative learning opportunities at DePaul.

Marc Lieberman, a DePaul law graduate with expertise in various business law specializations, praised the faculty's expertise and resources at DePaul, expressing excitement about the potential for further innovation in delivering a transformative education to students. Lieberman, who has previously supported DePaul through other initiatives, commended the university for providing him with the necessary foundation for his professional success.

The donation comes at a time when Business Law is the fastest-growing program at the College of Law, offering students opportunities to pursue certificates, experiential learning through the Business Law Clinic, and joint degrees in collaboration with the Driehaus College of Business.

The Liebermans' generous gift underscores their commitment to advancing education and research at DePaul University, with a specific focus on enhancing the intersection of law and business to prepare students for diverse career paths in the legal and corporate sectors.
